This tense is made up of two elements: a helping verb (often called an auxiliary verb) and a past participle of the main verb.<\/div>\n

Most of the verbs are conjugated using avoir<\/i>.<\/div>\n
The verb using \u00eatre<\/i> usually express motion or a change of place, state, or condition.<\/div>\n
\u26a0<\/span><\/b><\/span> <\/b>The past participle always agrees with the subject when the auxiliary verb is \u00eatre<\/i>. <\/div>\n

Ils  sont all\u00e9s <\/b>au cin\u00e9ma. <\/b>(They* <\/i>went to a movie.) <\/i> Here, “they” means only males or males and females.<\/i>
Elles* sont all\u00e9es <\/b>au cin\u00e9ma. (They <\/i>went to a movie.)  <\/i>Here, “they” means only females.<\/i><\/p>\n

all reflexive verbs also use \u201c\u00eatre\u201d.

The pass\u00e9 compos\u00e9 can express:<\/h4>\n

1. An action completed in the past:<\/b><\/p>\n

   Est-ce que vous avez fait les magasins ce week-end ?
   Did you shop this weekend?<\/i>

   J’ai mang\u00e9 cinq fois hier !
   I did eat five times yesterday!<\/i>

   Quand je suis arriv\u00e9, j’ai appel\u00e9 mes amis.
   When I arrived, I called my friends.<\/i>
